Occupational Acne Information

Certain chemical substances plug, irritate and block the pilo-sebaceous apparatus causing acne-like lesions.

Workers handling chlorine, oils and greases are particularly prone to this condition (Chlor-acne and Oil acne).

The lesions occur on the exposed, and less so, on the covered areas of the body through impregnation of the clothes. The author has seen the use of indigenous medicated oils for hair dressing and facial lubrication producing comedones and even papulo-pustules.
